LEC Community Seed and Food Swap: A Free Barter Event for Spring Gardening
Cora Uyigue, Program Manager at Living Earth Center in Mankato, introduces the Community Food and Seed Swap, an annual free event to help gardeners get ready for spring.
The swap runs on barter. People trade seeds, homemade baked goods and canned items, and no money changes hands. Bring leftover seeds from last year, jam, baked goods or canned vegetables, and trade for what other people brought. Many gardeners start seeds indoors around this time of year, so it is a good chance to meet other growers and add to your seed collection.
The event is free, but registration is required so organizers can plan for attendance and know what people are bringing. This was the 3rd annual swap.
